• REQUIREMENTS

    Any individual who has successfully completed their theoretical driver’s examination, and wishes to drive in Guyana, must make an application for a Provisional Driver’s Licence. It should be noted that this licence does not fully qualify you as a Driver, and is issued on a temporary basis.

    Requirements for New | Renewal of Provisional Licence:

    1. Completed Application Form
    2. Copy and Original Pass Letter from the Office of the Traffic Chief, Guyana Police Force
    3. Two (2) Passport- sized Photographs
    4. Copy of valid form of identification (ID or Passport)
  • FEE

    The processing fee for a Provisional Licence is One Thousand Five Hundred Guyana Dollars (G$1,500.00).

    Applicants are encouraged to utilise the following alternative payment option:

  • VALIDITY PERIOD

    A Provisional Licence is valid for a period of three (3) months, and can be renewed up to three periods (times).

  • PROCEDURE

    1. The Licence Revenue Officer will peruse the documents presented.
    2. Once all requirements are met, the application will be directed to the Cashier to effect payments.
    3. The applicant will be directed to the Dispatch Desk to uplift their Provisional Driver’s Licence.
  • NOTE

    •  A person under seventeen (17) years of age shall not drive a motor vehicle other than a cycle or invalid carriage on the road.
    • First time applicants are only authorised to apply for the following classes of vehicles, provided that he/she meets the eligible age:
      • Car
      • Cycle
      • Tractor
