REQUIREMENTS
Any individual who has successfully completed their theoretical driver’s examination, and wishes to drive in Guyana, must make an application for a Provisional Driver’s Licence. It should be noted that this licence does not fully qualify you as a Driver, and is issued on a temporary basis.
Requirements for New | Renewal of Provisional Licence:
- Completed Application Form
- Copy and Original Pass Letter from the Office of the Traffic Chief, Guyana Police Force
- Two (2) Passport- sized Photographs
- Copy of valid form of identification (ID or Passport)
VALIDITY PERIOD
A Provisional Licence is valid for a period of three (3) months, and can be renewed up to three periods (times).
PROCEDURE
- The Licence Revenue Officer will peruse the documents presented.
- Once all requirements are met, the application will be directed to the Cashier to effect payments.
- The applicant will be directed to the Dispatch Desk to uplift their Provisional Driver’s Licence.
NOTE
- A person under seventeen (17) years of age shall not drive a motor vehicle other than a cycle or invalid carriage on the road.
- First time applicants are only authorised to apply for the following classes of vehicles, provided that he/she meets the eligible age:
- Car
- Cycle
- Tractor
