Key Responsibilities
- Assisting the civil engineer by providing real-time input on site conditions, ensuring that construction is completed to the correct quality and design, reducing rework and conflicts, and keeping the project on schedule.
- Conducting daily site inspections to verify that the construction of GRA facilities are in keeping with the planned sequence and management directives.
- Tracking work progress against the construction program and promptly reporting delays by maintaining comprehensive documentation.
- Acting as the on-site representative for the project engineer of the GRA to oversee on-site construction activities and ensure adherence to schedules, quality standards, and safety regulations.
- Representing the GRA project engineer through contractor coordination and effective communication.
- Attending site meetings and providing updates on quality, progress, and issues.
- Clarifying technical details with contractors to prevent misunderstandings and project delays.
- Inspecting construction work to ensure it adheres to approved drawings, specifications, and building regulations.
- Monitoring materials delivered to site for compliance with specified standards (e.g., concrete grade, steel reinforcement, brickwork)
- Reporting any defects, poor workmanship, or deviations from the design to the project engineer/contractor.
- Documenting variations, delays, and additional works for cost control by maintaining site diaries, recording inspections, tests, and non-conformities.
- Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety (H&S) regulations (e.g., PPE, scaffolding safety, excavations).
- Reporting unsafe practices or hazards to the manager and the civil engineer responsible for the project.
- Verifying that temporary works (e.g., shoring, propping) are correctly installed.
- Assisting in final inspections and snagging lists before practical completion.
- Ensuring all as-built drawings and O&M manuals are properly handed over.
- Preparing a monthly report on the status of all ongoing project works for the Civil Engineer/ Manager.
- Any other related duties assigned.
Job Specifications
- Diploma in Building & Civil Engineering or any other equivalent qualification, with a minimum of two to five years relevant experience.
- Knowledge of construction practices, technical documentation, and industry standards.
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and standards.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Attention to detail for identifying defects and non-compliances.
- Good communication skills for liaising with engineers, contractors, and clients.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations and H&S best practices.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Integrity, assertiveness, and ability to team oriented.
