Key Responsibilities
- Preparing schedules, working papers, and correspondences to support audit activities.
- Organising and maintaining taxpayer files and evidence collected during audits.
- Assisting in retrieving information from taxpayer files, TRIPS, intranet reports, and other applications to verify compliance and calculate tax liabilities.
- Supporting the examination of taxpayer and third-party information to detect irregularities or fraudulent returns.
- Contributing to the development of interview questionnaires and documenting findings.
- Assisting in preparing profile reports and audit plans, highlighting compliance assessments and inconsistencies.
- Participating in field visits to verify operations and compliance with tax laws.
- Filing and archiving audit documents in line with evidence-gathering procedures.
- Supporting closure of audit cases, updating TRIPS with findings, and preparing reports.
- Delivering letters, Notices of Assessment, and other correspondence to taxpayers.
- Preparing weekly and monthly production reports to track progress and results.
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Job Specifications
- CAT, Diploma in Accountancy or equivalent qualification with at least two (2) years’ relevant auditing experience.
- Knowledge of GAAP, auditing principles, GRA’s mandate, Tax Laws, and trade policies.
- Familiarity with audit policies, procedures, and report writing techniques.
- Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively, conduct interviews, and manage multiple tasks.
- Integrity, professionalism, accountability, and respect in all interactions.
