The following guide provides a list of requirements and fees for Drivers making an application to the Licence Revenue Office of the Guyana Revenue Authority. This guide is not a substitute for the law or Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs) implemented by the Authority. In case of inadvertent conflict both the Law and SOPs will prevail.
The Licence Revenue Office of the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) is the only agency in Guyana authorised to register an individual as a Driver and issue the respective licence. An application for Driver’s Licence can be made at the GRA’s Headquarters or any of its Regional Branch Offices. All payments must be made at GRA’s Cashiers or via our alternative payment options (MMG, Republic Bank, GBTI, etc.)
- NEW DRIVER’S LICENCE
An individual applying for a new Driver’s Licence will be required to ensure all documentation are submitted before the process can successfully commence. Additionally, applicants should note that if they are making an application to be issued with the ‘Plastic Card’ Licence, they must present themselves to the Licence Revenue Office, 200-201 Camp Street, to have their photograph taken. As such, a third party cannot make the application on behalf of the applicant.

- RENEWAL OF DRIVER’S LICENCE
If your Licence is about to reach its expiration date, we advise you to renew your licence at least three (3) months prior to that date. Individuals should note that the GRA no longer issues Drivers’ Permits during the renewal process. This new measure will not affect the
