Objections & Appeals

The Guyana Revenue Authority wishes to notify taxpayers that where there are Objections to, and appeals for a review of taxes assessed by the Commissioner General, then same can be addressed through the established Boards of Review governed by the Laws of Guyana.

Taxpayers are reminded that there are three Boards of Review to which they can appeal their cases if they are dissatisfied with the Commissioner-General’s decision regarding their objection to an assessment. The Boards of Review are as follows:

  1. Income Tax Board of Review
  2. VAT Board of Review
  3. Customs Tribunal

New GRA Bond established at Lot 78 Bank Road, No. 78 Village Corriverton, Berbice

The Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) wishes to notify ALL business persons that a new storage bond for the storage of imports from Nickerie in Suriname has been established at Lot 78 Bank Road, No 78 Village, Corriverton, Berbice and all such imports will be lodged in the bond.

It must be noted that in accordance with Section 97 of the Customs Act, Chapter 82:01, “It shall be lawful for the Commissioner-General, from time to time by Notice in the Gazette, to declare what kind of goods shall or may be warehoused upon first importation…and all goods whatsoever while in any customs area, shall be subject to such regulations as may be prescribed”.

As such, importers using the Nickerie-Corriverton route are to note that effective August 1, 2013 their goods
will be subject to immediate storage in the bond upon arrival.
