    GRA's LEID Officials come under heavy gun fire

    The Guyana Police Force is currently investigating an armed attack on four officers of the Guyana Revenue Authority’s  (GRA) Law Enforcement and Investigation Division (LIED) at around 23:25hrs last night in the vicinity of Dundee, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara.

    The officers, who were conducting a surveillance exercise based on intelligence received, came under heavy gun fire after detaining three mini buses containing one hundred fifty boxes (150) of chicken for which no papers could be produced and a car driven by the son of a suspected smuggler.

    GRA to host 23rd General Assembly & Technical Conference of COTA

    The Caribbean Organisation of Tax Administration’s (COTA)  23rd General Assembly and Technical Conference is scheduled to open in Georgetown on July 20, 2014 at the Pegasus Hotel. The conference proper is slated to run from July 21 – 25, 2014 and will be held under the theme: Efficient Tax Administration as a Catalyst for Growth and Development in CARICOM. The sessions will commence with an opening ceremony on July 21 where Finance Minister, Dr. Ashni Singh will deliver the feature address.
